The CEE China (Nanjing & Suzhou) Study Tour, took place from 𝟐𝟒 𝐭𝐨 𝟑𝟎 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒, was an incredible expedition that offered our students a multitude of enriching experiences in civil engineering, geological engineering and Chinese culture. During the tour, our students had the privilege of visiting 𝐍𝐚𝐧𝐣𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 and connecting with fellow students. They engaged in mixer events, where they shared the knowledge in civil & geological engineering in both Hong Kong and China.

In addition, our students were granted a valuable opportunity to visit the research centre of Nanjing University and the Suzhou NanZeeSensing Technology Co. Ltd., which are well-known for developing and deploying new construction instrumentation techniques across many cities in China and different parts of the world. Our students were also invited to visit a deep excavation construction site in Suzhou, where advanced optical fibre sensing techniques were applied to monitor the retaining wall performance and safeguard the nearby facilities during the construction.

During my visit to Nanjing University, I explored civil engineering exhibitions on and off campus, gaining insights into mineral formation, plate tectonics, drilling techniques, and fiber optic sensing technologies. These cutting-edge applications deepened my understanding and sparked my enthusiasm for the discipline. The experience was tremendously insightful, enhancing my appreciation for the breadth and innovation in civil engineering.  𝘎𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘎𝘜𝘈𝘕 (𝘊𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘭 𝘌𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 (𝘚𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘔𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺) 𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘳 2 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵)

The study tour to Nanjing & Suzhou was an enriching experience. Both cities are beautiful, and the locals are enthusiastic. Touring Nanjing University with senior schoolmates provided invaluable insights into geological engineering courses. Visiting local civil engineering companies showcased the practical application of classroom theory. This comprehensive trip broadened my horizons and solidified my interest in the field. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn and exchange ideas with my classmates & Nanjing University students. 𝘌𝘴𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘟𝘜 (𝘌𝘌𝘚𝘋 𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘳 1 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵)

We are deeply grateful for the warm hospitality extended by the professors and students of Nanjing University. Their kindness and welcoming demeanor significantly enhanced our experience, making our study tour both enjoyable and educational. We are confident that this study tour will inspire our students and deepen their understanding of civil & geological engineering.
