APPLICATION REQUIREMENT
- Comply with the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, possess good scientific ethics, and consciously practice the spirit of scientists in the new era.
- Born on or after January 1, 1984.
- Hold a doctoral degree in natural sciences, engineering, or related fields.
- After obtaining a doctoral degree, generally have more than 36 months of continuous work experience in overseas universities, research institutions, or R&D section of corporates by April 15, 2024. For those who have obtained a doctoral degree overseas and have outstanding achievements, the work experience requirement may be relaxed accordingly.
- Applicants have not returned to full-time work in China or have returned to China after January 1, 2023.
- After receiving the funding notification, the awardee must resign from overseas work and work full-time in China for at least 3 years.
Restriction: Individuals can only undertake one project from the same level of the National Talent Program and cannot apply in the reverse order.
RECRUITMENT BENEFITS
Compensation Package:
- During the appointment period, the annual salary starts at 800,000 RMB (inclusive of the basic salary and comprehensive subsidy) from the university. Exceptionally outstanding talents may receive additional compensation.
- Qualified individuals can receive additional funding from the “Zijin Scholar” talent fund, with a minimum of 600,000 RMB in extra allowances within the first 3 years of their initial appointment.
- Personnel in relevant fields can serve part-time at Suzhou National Laboratory, undertake major projects, and enjoy the benefits of part-time personnel.
Position Appointment

- Selected overseas talents will be appointed to the position of “Zhi Cheng Young Professor,” with a career establishment, priority support in terms of being phd supervisor and phd student enrollment quota.
- Those who enter the second round of review for Overseas Outstanding Young Talents but are not funded will receive support through the school’s Dengfeng B Talent Program after the corresponding review process.
Subsidy
- Eligible candidates can receive a tax-free subsidy of 1 million RMB (from both the national and Jiangsu provincial levels).
- The university provides a housing subsidy of 1.4 million RMB (pre-tax) to support awardees in purchasing a property with complete ownership rights (around 130 square meters). Awardees can apply for transitional housing provided by the university and receive a monthly rental subsidy of 2,000 RMB.
Start-up Funding
- The national government provides 1-3 million RMB, and the university offers 2-3 million RMB in support. Exceptionally outstanding individuals can negotiate on a case-by-case basis for research start-up funds.
- Priority support for applying for other talent projects (such as Jiangsu Provincial Double Innovation Team Research Fund, with a maximum funding of 10 million RMB, and Jiangsu Provincial “333 Project” with a maximum funding of 2 million RMB).
Education for Children
- Supportive affiliated schools include high-quality kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools (with the best education resources in the corresponding areas).
Medical Insurance
- The university hospital’s professional medical team provides VIP medical services. Awardees can enjoy free medical examinations at first-class hospitals in Nanjing and a green medical channel.
Other Benefits
- Support policies and services provided by the Nanjing Municipal Government include project funding, identity protection through the municipal talent career establishment “rotating pool,” participation in the “Young and Middle-aged Elite Talent” training project with a living allowance of 72,000 RMB within 3 years, housing subsidies for Ph.D. graduates from the world’s top 200 universities, and application for the “Zijinshan Elite Card” to enjoy services such as a green medical channel, urban commuting, and housekeeping services.
- Support policies and services provided by the Suzhou Municipal Government include various scientific and technological support projects and talent incentive policies. Those selected as “Leading Talents in Suzhou’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship” can receive project funding of 500,000, 1 million, or 2 million RMB. Leveraging the unit to apply for the “Talent Subsidy” of Suzhou’s high-level universities and research institutes, the personal quota can reach up to 500,000 RMB. Applying for the Suzhou Outstanding Talent Contribution Award can accumulate a total reward of no more than 1 million RMB per person over the years.
